Serve

We're always looking for ways to serve our community and our world. God calls us to look outside the walls of our church building to serve "the least of these" (Matthew 25). We know it's not enough to simply sustain our church life -- we live and breathe for the sake of the world, just as Jesus did.

Briefly, here are the ministries we're most involved in:

Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministries. We help the hungry and homeless by sharing food with the Co-Op. The first Sunday of each month is our First Sunday food drive, and the gathering area overflows with non-perishables! There are lots of ways to volunteer your time, too. Learn more about the Co-Op here.

Family Promise of Gwinnett County. This group is "ending homelessness one family at a time," and we're helping! We have provided space for the Family Promise Day Center on our property, and we serve as a support congregation in a network of 27 local churches. You can learn more about Family Promise at their website, or you can contact our congregational coordinator Dan Burgart.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Two AA groups meet at LFCC each week: Sundays at 8 p.m. and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. We are privileged to share space with a group that is helping people live their lives in God's hands.

Collections and gifts. Very often, various groups in the church are putting together gifts, gathering supplies, or collecting cash for worthwhile ministries. We encourage your prayerful generosity toward these drives. School supplies, refugee blankets, church camp equipment, missions funding -- these are just some of the collections that make up our astonishing outpouring each year.

More Hands for God. A brand-new effort by metro-Atlanta Disciples churches, More Hands for God is a day of mission in a neighborhood that Atlanta would like to forget. Check out the City of Refuge mission center here, and you'll know why we feel compelled to offer ourselves to their outstanding work.

Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) special offerings. Several times a year, our denomination collects money for projects that are larger than any congregation. We share resources for planting new churches, sending missionaries overseas, supporting our regional and general structures, strengthening higher education, promoting racial reconciliation, and much more. These offerings are announced in advance so that you may prayerfully consider your participation.
